Good blog Jan.

Out of the forwards you listed the ones I definitely want coming back next year are Zucc, Miller and Stepan.

Nash, Brassard and Kreider I wouldn't mind coming back next year, but wouldn't bother me if they didn't either.

Nash is the trickiest because I think the return will not be nearly what is lost with Nash. Love him or hate him the guy plays a complete game and is used in every single situation. Sure it opens up some money but who out there is available to step in and do what Nash does?

I wouldn't want to give up more than what dallas paid for spezza...plus i'd want salary going back.

So lupul, a few middle of the road prosects and a 2nd.

Agreed, you are probably better off keeping nash.

out of the forwards discussed, I can't really see any of them being moved. The only reason they would move Brass or Step is if they are hell bent on signing E. Staal to become their #1 center. Which would then give you a #1 line of:
Nash- E.Staal- Keider/Miller

Nash has the NTC and too much money locked up so I don't see him going anywhere. Yes he has the intangibles that make him valuable to other teams, but ultimately it comes down to the playoffs. Every team wants guys that can produce in the playoffs, and I can't see a team trading for him knowing his playoff history.

Obviously lock up Kreider for AT LEAST 3 years.
Zucc isn't going anywhere either. That then gives us the second line as well:
Zucc- Step/Brass- Kreider/Miller

The question then becomes, who fills out the bottom 6? Jan?

This article is 3 days old, I think Brooks' buffoonery on this matter has already been put to bed.

Mcdonagh is really far down on the list of players they need to move

Step made $3.865 on his bridge deal, I think $4 mil is expected and reasonable, Hayes didn't have ahead to command more than $2.5 and Miller will get between $2.5-3 mil

With the offensive line Dallas has he couldn't ask for a better situation as long as Romo and Dez stay healthy to keep defenses honest.

Spot on as usual Jan.
Since quotes aren't working, I pretty much agree with what you and MDW wrote. Nash is a threat even if he is not potting plants. Keep Zucc, Miller and Step, I wouldn't be averse to moving those other players for a good return, not just to shed salary.
I can see Stepan being a coach someday. He has a great hockey IQ, kind of like Strudwick. Always respected him too.

BTW, keep that hand-egg talk on handeggbuzz, not hockey buzz.

That's because he took the whole 1st half of the season off when he was playing for Anaheim.

that's because he doesn't have to worry about being the guy who scores the goals
